Abstract: Flipcharts have long been one of the most convenient, versatile, user-friendly materials for health communication, and even in these days of high technology they are still widely used in various settings. Flipcharts can be used in one-on-one counseling or with small to medium sized groups, often along with pamphlets and other teaching materials. What makes flipcharts useful for both provider and client is that the illustration supplements verbal information that the client receives, while the information printed on the back of each page serves as a memory-aid to the provider. Trainers use flipcharts to teach service providers, service providers use them to teach clients, and community-based distributors (CBDs) carry lightweight versions along on their visits. As teaching and training materials, flipcharts are a cost-effective way to convey information in a variety of settings. This issue of "What's New" displays flipcharts of different sizes, shapes and subjects. Also includes a list of materials recently received by the M/MC on the following subjects: abstinence, injectable contraceptives and responsible parenthood. less
