Abstract: Episode 17: Banfora - En route to Burkina Faso - Songo and Moussa arrive in Baba’s home town; his family is surprised to see him so sick. They accept his return, until Songo tells them that he has AIDS. They are upset and afraid that he has been cursed. Songo explains that anyone can become affected. He asks for their compassion. Baba’s father asks for his forgiveness, he promises to make him as comfortable as possible.
Ouagadougou - Poko has a prenatal visit with the midwife. She learns that because she is over 35 and has lost children, she is at risk for a difficult pregnancy. The midwife explains the permanent and non-permanent methods of contraception. Poko asks if religion prohibits family planning. They discuss religion and spousal negotiation. The midwife refers Poko to the Family Planning Center. Poko remarks how kind the midwife has been.|Episode 18: Banfora - Baba’s father, Adama, asks Songo and Moussa to stay with him to face his village. The leaders of Banfora expect him to send his son away. They are afraid that Baba will contaminate the village. Moussa explains that he has spent the past three months with Baba and has not become infected. Adama names Songo his adopted son.
Ouagadougou - Kombo works for a rich family. She notices that the husband and wife eat dinner together. That does not happen with her parents. Tambila tells Kombo that Gadagada is in love with her. Kombo doubts that he will want a young mother, but she is wrong. less
